Cupping Caravan Yergacheffe and Sidama 2010
With a specially selected group of 16 coffee buyers we created a mobile roasting and cupping laboratory which traveled through the Sidama and Yergacheffe area. In total, we cupped more than 25 cooperative coffees at different locations using our mobile cupping lab and utilizing Q-protocols.
Prior and after the cupping sessions, the buyers exchanged business information with the cooperative farmers from the Sidama and Yergacheffe Coffee Unions. All cooperatives received immediate feedback about their coffee qualiy.
Even more important, all buyers expressed the interest to purchase the available lots that were cupped!
The idea for the Cupping Caravan was conceived by my friend Tadesse Meskela, founder of the Oromia Cooperative Union.Boot Coffee assisted with the program development and we will continue strengthening the business linkages between roasters and Ethiopian cooperatives.
